Full migration of New Caledonia's electricity distribution network to ArcGIS Utility Network. Topology, graph traversal, field mobility and network diagrams.
For an energy distributor, the Geographic Information System is the true nerve center of operations. However, EEC was relying on an aging GIS solution. The challenge was therefore major: this obsolete system had to be replaced with a state-of-the-art tool to increase operational efficiency and secure the management processes of the New Caledonian electricity network. The client needed a technological leap to prepare for the territory’s energy future.
Solution: The ArcGIS Utility Network Revolution in Agile Mode.
For 18 months, our engineers worked in close collaboration with EEC’s teams. To ensure perfect adaptation to the specific requirements of the electricity business, we chose to manage this complex project using the Agile methodology for better adaptability to needs.
The cornerstone of this transformation was the meticulous migration of existing data to the ArcGIS Utility Network model, Esri’s next-generation solution dedicated to network operators. All this was done without any loss of information or topological relationships.
We implemented advanced features that are a game-changer for operators:
-
Advanced topology and graph traversal: Allowing the modeling of the real behavior of the current, such as voltage propagation and phase changes on the network.
-
Automation of business processes for effortless quality improvement: Generation of work versions, field calculations, validation rules.
-
Integrated mobility: Connecting field teams directly to the production database via feature services for smooth updates and maximum responsiveness.
